Healthy Summer BBQ Food
July 2 2012
The 4th of July starts the summer barbecue season - here are some tips to make sure your barbecue is healthy, as well as delicious:
- Opt for lower-calorie chicken, turkey hot dogs, and veggie burgers. Chicken and turkey have fewer calories than beef burgers. Don't use too much barbecue sauce, it can be full of sugar; or make your own!
- Make a green salad
- Grilled fresh corn is a great healthy summer tradition!
- Use less mayonnaise (or use low-fat mayo) in potato salads and coleslaw. Substitute nonfat yogurt or sour cream for great taste and fewer calories than full-fat mayo
- Watermelon makes a tasty and healthy dessert!
